Takeru Anzai
Founder / Representative of the Dance of Blue Project
Born in Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture
Began ballet training at Anzai Akira Ballet Estacio.
Studied under Kae Maeda, Akira Anzai, Masako Hakama, and Errol Pickford.
Professional Career
2005
Joined K-BALLET COMPANY at the age of 18, performing numerous principal and featured roles.
2010
Joined Atlantic City Ballet in the United States.
2012
Transferred to Eugene Ballet Company in the United States as a principal dancer.
Cast in the leading role of Mowgli for the world premiere of Mowgli – The Jungle Book Ballet.
2014
Returned to Japan and joined Star Dancers Ballet.
Performed as principal in the third and fourth movements of Balanchine’s Western Symphony and took on the role of the Black Hero in the ballet Dragon Quest.
2017
Joined NBA Ballet Company as First Soloist.
Performed major roles in numerous productions including the Prince in The Nutcracker, Green in Celts, and Birbanto in Le Corsaire.
2022
Appointed Resident Choreographer.
Choreographed full-length productions such as Don Quixote and Symphonic Dances.
Choreographic Work
In recent years, has presented numerous original works including Odd Sympathy, Pluto, and Null.
Choreographed and appeared in the music video for reggae artist "Lecca," whose song ranked 5th on the Oricon charts.
Also worked as choreographer for the dance scenes in the film Fly Me to the Saitama and the musical Our Blue Planet.
Projects
2020
Founded the Dance of Blue Project, dedicated not only to mentoring young dancers but also to promoting and advancing arts and culture in the Enshū region.
2021
Established T2 ArtWork, a ballet-focused design studio.
Expanding the possibilities of ballet expression through web design, video production, and various creative approaches.
