Announcement of Application Opening

Applications are now being accepted for the 6th International Ballet Competition, The World Ballet Trial Tokyo Stage.

We warmly welcome the participation of all individuals who are passionately dedicated to ballet, regardless of experience or skill level.

This competition consists of three categories: Pre-Competition, International Competition, and Group Competition, allowing participants to challenge themselves according to their goals.

Outstanding performers in the International Competition will be granted the opportunity to advance to the Final Stage held on the second day.

The Final Stage will also feature dancers who achieved excellent results in the TWBT Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia,

Hong Kong and Italy stages.

Participating on an international stage, alongside peers from around the world, offers a unique and invaluable experience that will surely expand your future possibilities.

Participation rules

Pre-Competition

 

Participants may enter either classical ballet, contemporary dance, or both.

 

Time Limit

Classical Ballet: Within 3 minutes

Contemporary Dance: Within 3 minutes (free choice of music) If entering both categories, each performance will be judged separately.

 

Accompaniment Music

Only digital audio files will be accepted.

Exceeding the time limit will result in disqualification.

 

Age Categories

Early Junior : 6–7 years old

Junior A : 8–9 years old

Junior B : 10–11 years old

Junior C : 12–13 years old

Junior D : 14–15 years old

Junior E : 16–18 years old

Senior : 19–30 years old

 

Judging Criteria

Each performance will be evaluated based on standards tailored to the characteristics of the classical ballet and contemporary dance categories.

Participants in all age categories are allowed to perform in ballet shoes.

Eligibility

First-time participants and those with limited experience are warmly welcomed.

Performing on stage offers a wonderful opportunity to discover new joys in ballet.

International Competition

 

Participants may enter either classical ballet, contemporary dance, or both.

 

Time Limit

Classical Ballet: Within 3 minutes

Contemporary Dance: Within 3 minutes (free choice of music) If entering both categories, each performance will be judged separately.

Age Categories

Junior A : 8–9 years old

Junior B : 10–11 years old

Junior C : 12–13 years old

Junior D : 14–15 years old

Participants in Junior B (10–11 years old) and younger are allowed to perform in ballet shoes.

Group Competition

 

Participants may choose either classical ballet or contemporary dance.

Time Limit

Within 4 minutes (free choice of music)

 

Accompaniment Music 

Only digital audio files will be accepted.

Exceeding the time limit will result in disqualification.

 

Age Categories

Under 18 : Composed of members aged 8–18 years

Upper 19 : Composed of members aged 19–30 years Team Composition

Each team must consist of 2 to 15 members.

 

Judging Criteria

Performances will be evaluated separately for classical ballet and contemporary dance.

Entries in the classical ballet category may not include Grand Pas de Deux.

Silver Award

Bronze Award

For both classical ballet and contemporary dance, 1–2 individuals from each age category will be selected to receive these awards.

 

Bright Future Award
For both classical ballet and contemporary dance, 1–2 individuals from each age category, who demonstrated exceptional performances but did not receive a Bronze Award, will be selected.

 

Hopeful Journey Award
For both classical ballet and contemporary dance, 1–2 individuals from each age category, who exhibited outstanding performances but were not recipients of the Bright Future Award, will be selected.

 

Teacher Award
Awarded to the Teachers of Gold Award recipients in both classical ballet and contemporary dance categories.

 

Contemporary Dance Choreography Award
Presented to the Choreographers of Gold Award-winning performances in the contemporary dance category.

International Competition

 

Grand Prix

Grand Prix Selection Criteria

At the International Competition Final Stage, the Grand Prix will be awarded to one participant who demonstrates the most outstanding performance across all age categories in both classical ballet and contemporary dance.

After selecting the highest scorers from each category, the judges will conduct a comprehensive evaluation based on technical skill, artistry, stage presence, and other criteria to determine the final recipient.

Note: Group categories are excluded.

Gold Award

Silver Award

Bronze Award

Awarded to 1–2 individuals from each age category in both classical ballet and contemporary dance.

 

Shining Blossom Award
Awarded to 1–2 individuals from each age category in both classical ballet and contemporary dance, selected for outstanding performances among participants who did not receive a Bronze Award.

 

Shining Leaf Award
Presented to 1–2 individuals from each age category in both classical ballet and contemporary dance, selected for exceptional performances among participants who did not receive a Shining Blossom Award.

 

Teacher Award
Awarded to the Teachers of Gold Award recipients in both the classical ballet and contemporary dance categories.

 

Contemporary Dance Choreography Award
Presented to the Choreographers of Gold Award-winning performances in the contemporary dance category.

Judge's Scholarship
Awarded to selected dancers from all participants, based on various factors considered by the judges.

Bronze Award
Awarded to one team from each category: Under 18 and Upper 19.

 

Harmonic Ensemble Award
Presented to 1–2 teams from each age category, selected for outstanding performances among groups that did not receive a Bronze Award.

 

Teacher Award
Awarded to the Teachers of Gold Award recipients in each category.

 

Choreography Award
Presented to the Choreographers of Gold Award-winning performances in each category.

Competition 

 

Classic Ballet: JPY23,000

 

Contemporary Dance: JPY23,000

 

Both Categories (Classic Ballet & Contemporary Dance): JPY44,000

 

Group Category (Group Representative): JPY30,000
An additional JPY10,000 will be charged per extra member.

 

Workshop 

 

Classic Ballet (90 min/class): JPY7,000

Contemporary Dance (90 min/class): JPY7,000

Both Categories (Classic Ballet & Contemporary Dance): JPY12,000
