We are pleased to announce that we have newly renamed
the competition
as “The World Ballet Trial Japan Stage.”
As an international hub connecting Japan to the world,
we will continue to firmly supportthe dancers who represent the future.
In addition to the Pre-Competition, International Competition,
and Group Competition, we will newly establish
a Folklore Dance category. Together with talents selected
from the Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia,
Hong Kong, and Italy stages,
we will hold the 7th edition on July 28–29, 2026,
at Urayasu-shi Cultural Center, as a stage from which dancers
can spread their wings to the world.

Participation rules
Pre-Competition
Participants may enter Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, or both divisions.
Time Limit

Classical Ballet: up to 3 minutes

Contemporary Dance: up to 3 minutes (free choice of music)
If entering both divisions, each piece will be judged separately.
Music
Only digital audio files will be accepted.
Exceeding the time limit will result in disqualification.

Judging
Each division (Classical Ballet / Contemporary Dance) will be judged
according to criteria appropriate to its artistic characteristics.
In all age categories, participation in ballet shoes is permitted.
Eligibility
First-time participants and dancers with limited experience are warmly welcomed.
Performing on stage provides a valuable opportunity
to discover new joy and growth in ballet.
International Competition
Participants may enter Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, or both divisions.

For both classical ballet and contemporary dance, 1–2 individuals from each age category will be selected to receive these awards.
Bright Future Award
For both classical ballet and contemporary dance, 1–2 individuals from each age category, who demonstrated exceptional performances but did not receive a Bronze Award, will be selected.
Hopeful Journey Award
For both classical ballet and contemporary dance, 1–2 individuals from each age category, who exhibited outstanding performances but were not recipients of the Bright Future Award, will be selected.
Teacher Award
Awarded to the Teachers of Gold Award recipients in both classical ballet and contemporary dance categories.
Contemporary Dance Choreography Award
Presented to the Choreographers of Gold Award-winning performances in the contemporary dance category.
International Competition
Grand Prix
Selection Method for the Grand Prix
The Grand Prix will be awarded at the International Competition Final Stage to the dancer who demonstrates the most outstanding performance among all age categories in both Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance.
After the highest-scoring dancer in each division is identified, the jury will conduct a comprehensive evaluation based on technical excellence, artistry, stage presence, and overall impact before making the final decision.
Please note that the Group Competition category is not eligible for the Grand Prix.
Gold Award
Silver Award
Bronze Award
Awarded to 1–2 individuals from each age category in both classical ballet and contemporary dance.
Shining Blossom Award
Awarded to 1–2 individuals from each age category in both classical ballet and contemporary dance, selected for outstanding performances among participants who did not receive a Bronze Award.
Shining Leaf Award
Presented to 1–2 individuals from each age category in both classical ballet and contemporary dance, selected for exceptional performances among participants who did not receive a Shining Blossom Award.
Teacher Award
Awarded to the Teachers of Gold Award recipients in both the classical ballet and contemporary dance categories.
Contemporary Dance Choreography Award
Presented to the Choreographers of Gold Award-winning performances in the contemporary dance category.
Judge's Scholarship
Awarded to selected dancers from all participants, based on various factors considered by the judges.

Awarded to one team from each category: Under 18 and Upper 19.
Harmonic Ensemble Award
Presented to 1–2 teams from each age category, selected for outstanding performances among groups that did not receive a Bronze Award.

Choreography Award
Presented to the Choreographers of Gold Award-winning performances in each category.
Folklore Dance Competition
The Solo Division and the Group Division will be judged independently.

In both the Solo and Group Divisions,
the awards will be presented to 1–2 participants (or groups) in each age category.
This division is intended to respect and promote traditional culture,
and as the evaluation criteria differ, it is not eligible for the Grand Prix selection.

◇ Contemporary Dance: JPY 23,000
◇ Both Divisions (Classical Ballet & Contemporary Dance): JPY 44,000
◇ Group: JPY 30,000 (per group representative)
An additional JPY 10,000 will be charged for each additional member.
◇ Folklore Dance (Solo): JPY 23,000
◇ Folklore Dance (Group): JPY 30,000
An additional JPY 10,000 will be charged for each additional member.
Workshops
◆ Classical Ballet: JPY 7,000 (90 minutes per class)
◆ Contemporary Dance: JPY 7,000 (90 minutes per class)
◆ Both Divisions (Classical Ballet & Contemporary Dance): JPY 12,000
Refund Policy
Participation fees are non-refundable in principle.
However, refunds may be granted only in the case where the participant is unable to perform due to injury,
subject to the following conditions:
Conditions

A medical certificate issued by a physician must be submitted
(including signature and official medical institution details) -
Application deadline: no later than 7 days prior to the competition date
(No refunds will be issued after this deadline due to finalized event arrangements.)
Refund Details

The remaining balance will be refunded after deducting an administrative fee of JPY 5,000
-
Bank transfer fees are the responsibility of the participant (both domestic and international transfers)
-
Refunds will be processed within approximately 30 days after confirmation

Pre-competition participants are not eligible for the Final Stage.
Only International Competition participants are eligible.
To Overseas Dancers Considering Participation in the TWBT Japan Stage
TWBT respects its partner countries.
Therefore, dancers from countries where a TWBT stage is already held are generally not permitted to enter the TWBT Japan Stage Semifinal directly.
This policy is based on the TWBT Union agreement,
and we kindly ask for your understanding.
We encourage you to first participate in the TWBT stage held in your own country and demonstrate your abilities there.
We look forward to seeing you at the Japan Final Stage.
If TWBT is not held in your country,
you may apply to participate in the TWBT Japan Stage Semifinal.
In addition, the Pre-Competition is open to all dancers.
However, this category is intended as an opportunity to gain experience,
and does not lead to advancement to the Final Stage.
