Can I enter both Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance?

Yes, you can enter both categories.
You may participate in either one or both.
If you enter both, each category will be judged separately.

 

What are the age categories?

Pre-Competition:
Ages 6 to 30 (divided into 7 subcategories)

International Competition:
Ages 8 to 25 (divided into 6 subcategories)

Group Competition:

  • Under 18: Composed of participants aged 8 to 18

  • Upper 19: Composed of participants aged 19 to 30

 

How are age categories determined?
Please select the appropriate category based on your age on the day of the competition.

What happens if I have a birthday on the day of the competition?

The age on the day of the competition will be used as the basis for determination.

If your birthday falls on the day of the competition,
you will participate in the category corresponding to your new age.

Example: If your 14th birthday falls on the day of the competition
→ You will be eligible for Junior D (ages 14–15).

Is there a time limit for performances?

  • Solo: Within 3 minutes (for both Pre-Competition and International Competition)

  • Group: Within 4 minutes

About Music Playback

What are "Music First" "On stage" and "Pose First" ?

In this competition, there are three types of music start methods:

Music First 
The music starts playing first, and then the dancer begins to move.

On stage
The dancer is already in the starting position on stage and begins dancing at the same time the music starts.

Pose First
The music is played at a designated timing that matches the dancer's movement.

Please confirm the music start timing with the stage manager in advance.

For this competition, the music playback will be conducted according to the method specified at the time of entry.

Please check your music file in advance and prepare to ensure a smooth performance on the day of the event.

 

What is the difference between the Pre-Competition and International Competition?

Pre-Competition:

  • Intended for beginners and those with limited competition experience.

  • No age restrictions, and ballet shoes are allowed.

International Competition:

  • Requires more experience than the Pre-Competition.

  • Ballet shoes are allowed only for Junior B (ages 10–11).

  • Top performers will qualify for the Final Stage.

※ Both categories are open to participants from any country.

 

What are the rules for the Group Competition?

  • Participants can choose either Classical Ballet or Contemporary Dance.

  • Teams must consist of 2 to 15 members.

  • Grand Pas de Deux is not permitted for Classical Ballet entries.

  • Open to participants from any country.

 

What are the award categories?

Pre-Competition:

  • Gold, Silver, Bronze

  • Bright Future, Hopeful Journey

  • Teacher Award,

  • Choreography Award

International Competition:

  • Grand Prix, Gold, Silver, Bronze

  • Shining Blossom, Shining Leaf

  • Teacher Award, Choreography Award

  • Jury Scholarship

Group Competition:

  • Gold, Silver, Bronze

  • Harmonic Ensemble

  • Teacher Award,

  • Choreography Award

  • Jury Scholarship

 

What is the schedule?

The detailed schedule for the evaluation and workshops will be determined after the number of applicants is confirmed and is expected to be announced around June 2025.

The workshops are scheduled to take place during the same period in Practice Rooms 2 and 3 within the same hall.
